At the start of May our three Great Yarmouth primary schools, Cobholm Primary Academy, Great Yarmouth Primary Academy and Stradbroke Primary Academy, were visited by a producer from the show “I Can Do It, You Can Too”.

In a special assembly for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, pupils were excited to learn that there would be an opportunity to audition for the next series of the TV show, with plans to shoot some of the footage on the Great Yarmouth beaches. When asked about some of their favourite beach activities, lots of pupils were good at making sandcastles, body-boarding and some had even been snorkelling!

The CBeebies show, “I Can Do It, You Can Too” is all about staying active and picking up new skills, with talented children teaching others how they can take part in their favourite activities, passing on their knowledge and supporting them to learn. In the previous series children have learnt how to kayak, play badminton and have a go at horse riding!

Jess McGinlay, Vice Principal at Great Yarmouth Primary Academy said:

“It’s really exciting to have such an amazing opportunities for the pupils at all three of our Great Yarmouth primary academies, it was great to hear from Kyran on her visit and we are thrilled that a pupil from GYPA was selected. The day of filming was great fun for everyone involved and it was wonderful to watch Phoebe proudly share her experience of the day with staff and pupils at our ‘watch party’ when the episode aired.”

One of our GYPA pupils, Phoebe, was chosen to be on the show to learn how to do the monkey bars. She was coached by another child as part of the show and the episode was filmed on-site at the school this summer.

This term the school watched the episode in a special “watch-party” assembly where Phoebe was able to share her experiences of the day. She said:

“It was so much fun filming all day and learning how to do the monkey bars. I like meeting Aaron. He was really cheeky!”
