PROCEDURES FOR NON-COMPLIANCE
If a pupil attends Great Yarmouth Primary Academy with incorrect uniform, we will take the following approach:
- In the case of jewellery or make-up, we will explain the issue to the pupil and they will be asked to remove the item. If a pupil is wearing the incorrect uniform, parents will be immediately notified and asked to bring to school the appropriate item of uniform; we will also speak to the pupil to explain the correct uniform to wear.
- If a second incident occurs of incorrect uniform or appearance, the school will inform parents immediately and the pupil may be asked to go home to rectify the issue. Government guidance states that teachers can discipline pupils for breaching our school’s rules on appearance or uniform. The guidance also states that a Principal may ask a pupil to go home to rectify the breach of school rules or appearance in uniform. As the Government guidance states, this ‘sending home to rectify’ will initially constitute an authorised absence. Great Yarmouth Primary Academy will grant this for a maximum of two days, but further breaches will result in an unauthorised absence.
Further breaches in uniform or appearance will result in sanctions in line with Great Yarmouth Primary Academy behaviour procedures for not following school rules.
